Carrillo to Defend Muay Thai Title Against Anane at Inner Circle 43

· Kickboxing & Muay Thai

Nico Carrillo will make his first defense of the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title against Nabil Anane. The rematch is set for The Inner Circle 43 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on Friday, December 18, and subscribers can watch at live.onefc.com.

The card already includes a strawweight Muay Thai world title unification bout between reigning champion Prajanchai Pongsuphan PK and interim titleholder Aliff Sor Dechapan.

What happened the first time

The two met at ONE 170 in January 2025. Carrillo, nicknamed "King of the North," arrived on a 15-fight winning streak. Anane, then 20, floored him three times and finished him in the first round to claim the ONE interim bantamweight Muay Thai world title. It was his sixth straight win on the global stage.

Carrillo has since moved up to featherweight and gone 4-0 in the promotion. He finished Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Luke Lessei back to back, which earned him a shot at the interim crown against Shadow Mavinn at ONE Fight Night 40 in February. He won the interim title there with a five-round performance. In July he was elevated to undisputed champion when Tawanchai PK Saenchai vacated the title. In August he opened his kickboxing account in ONE with a second-round knockout of Zhou Jiaqiang at ONE Fight Night 46.

Anane outpointed Superlek after beating Carrillo and was later elevated to undisputed bantamweight Muay Thai world champion. He then had two kickboxing fights, including a win over Hiromi Wajima at ONE 173 in Tokyo. Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon took his title in a five-round fight at The Inner Circle 7, and Suakim Pongsuphan PK beat him by split decision this past August. Earlier this month he won a unanimous decision over former K-1 champion Yuki Yoza in a bantamweight kickboxing bout at ONE Samurai 4.

Anane is the number three bantamweight Muay Thai contender. A win would give him the featherweight crown and a 2-0 series lead over Carrillo. For Carrillo, a win would level the series at one apiece and put a third meeting on the table.
