Conor McGregor Rehabs His Knee in L.A. With a Nurse at His Side 24/7

· Off the Cage

Conor McGregor is recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery in Los Angeles with a nurse beside him around the clock, according to his longtime friend and training partner Dillon Danis.

The former two-division UFC champion had the knee rebuilt after his return against Max Holloway at UFC 329 ended with an injury just seconds into the fight. It was his first outing in five years.

Danis, who has trained with McGregor and called him a friend for several years, spoke about the aftermath with MMA Fighting's Mike Heck. He did not hide that the Irishman struggled once the fight was over.

"He was in a dark place. Any human being will. I'm not going into details what we talked about because that's obviously personal but as a human, how would you feel? The biggest comeback and that happens."

"His head's a lot better"

That stretch, Danis said, is behind him now. McGregor has shut himself away in Los Angeles, keeps up with every rehab exercise and has a nurse with him 24 hours a day.

"Now his head's a lot better," Danis said. "He's doing all the exercises. He's isolated himself in L.A. doing all the right things for his knee and he's focused on coming back."

He waved off the people who say McGregor will never fight again or will not be the same. Once McGregor puts his mind to something, according to Danis, he gets it done. The two talk almost every day. "He is focused right now," Danis said. "He's in a good spot right now and I'm happy to see it."

McGregor has one fight left on his current UFC contract and has said several times that he wants to compete again as soon as International Fight Week in 2027, which usually falls in July.

Nothing has been offered or booked so far.
