Foster Outpoints Navarrete to Unify Three 130-Pound Belts
O'Shaquie Foster took the WBO and IBF super featherweight titles from Emanuel Navarrete on Saturday night at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. He kept his own WBC belt too, so all three 130-pound titles are now his.
The judges gave it to Foster by unanimous decision after 12 rounds, with scores of 118-108, 115-111 and 118-108. Foster put Navarrete on the canvas twice in the 12th round. The win moves him to 26-3 with 12 knockouts, while Navarrete drops to 40-3-1 with 33 knockouts.
Navarrete, a Mexican three-division champion, had brought his two belts to the ring for the first time after stopping Eduardo Nunez in February. Foster, the 33-year-old from Orange, Texas, was making the sixth defense of the WBC title after a decision over Raymond Ford in May. At the weigh-in a day earlier the two came in at 130 pounds for Navarrete and 129.8 for Foster. Navarrete is 5ft 7in, Foster 5ft 8.5in, and both have a 72-inch reach.
