Georges St-Pierre's Podcast Clip Catches MMA Fans Off Guard
Georges St-Pierre has moved into acting and, more recently, podcasting since his UFC career ended. His latest episode drew wide attention online because of its subject: the post became a trending topic on X, with more than 1 million views and thousands of comments.
The clip that started it
The viral moment came from a short teaser posted on social media. In it, St-Pierre asks whether a man who has sex with men is automatically gay, and wonders whether men who have sex in prison, or in general, should be considered homosexual. The clip then moves into a discussion of the nuances of sexuality. The post asked the same question in its caption.
Many of the replies were from MMA fans expressing shock at the topic. Another commenter joked that St-Pierre had done a little too much jiu-jitsu, and one fan joked that the episode should drop St-Pierre three or four spots on the all-time greatest list.
The full episode
The full episode went beyond the teaser. St-Pierre's guest was Dr. Lauri Betito, an experienced psychologist and sex therapist, and the two covered a broad range of sex education topics, including performance anxiety, the female orgasm, beauty standards and trauma.
St-Pierre, now 45, last competed in 2017, when he became a two-division UFC champion. He later tried to set up a return for a superfight with then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but the idea never got past negotiations with the UFC, and he officially retired in 2019. His podcast now covers subjects outside of fighting, as the episode with Dr. Betito showed.
