Jena Bishop Rejects Carmouche's 'Late Fade' Forecast for PFL Chicago

· Previews and Predictions

Jena Bishop is not worried about Liz Carmouche's prediction for their rematch. Carmouche has suggested that Bishop will fade in the later rounds, but the submission specialist believes the opposite is true. The two meet again in the main event of PFL Chicago on Friday night, this time with the vacant PFL women's flyweight title on the line.

A busy year and a sharper stand-up game

Speaking at media day on Wednesday, Bishop said she has been busy non-stop but loves being in Chicago, and noted that this is her second fight of the year. She comes in on back-to-back wins but insisted that does not mean her game is complete. She said her grappling is something she does not have to focus on as much, so she has been working on tightening up her striking.

According to Bishop, little changes from one camp to the next. The goal is always to be better than she was in her previous fight, and even after two wins she sees room for improvement.

Who wins the late rounds

When asked about Carmouche expecting her to run out of gas, Bishop laughed at the idea.

I think that I get stronger as the fight goes on.

She admitted she can be a slow starter at times and said she likes that Carmouche sees the later rounds as a weakness for her.

For Bishop, a win over Carmouche would mean more than another line on her record. It would bring the belt she has been chasing since she switched from jiu-jitsu competition to MMA. She said she moved into the sport because she believed she could become a champion, and that winning the title would be the culmination of everything she has worked toward.

Carmouche has predicted that Bishop will fade late in the fight, while Bishop said she expects to get stronger as the rounds go on. The vacant women's flyweight title is at stake in the PFL Chicago main event on Friday night.
