Michael Morales and Kattya Salazar Announce They Are Expecting a Girl

UFC welterweight Michael Morales and his girlfriend, Kattya Salazar, are expecting a baby girl. The 27-year-old Ecuadorian posted a video of the gender reveal on Instagram, with pink confetti going up as he celebrated with friends and family.

In the caption, written in Spanish, he addressed his daughter directly: "We're waiting for you with all our love, princess. Daddy and Mommy already love you more than words can say. Our little girl, our greatest gift."

Fighters react

Other fighters jumped into the comments. Flyweight Brandon Moreno wrote, "Congratulations, my Michael," and strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern added a row of hearts and prayer emojis with "congrats!!"

Fans were just as quick. "A champion for the world and for them," one wrote. Another said, "The new queen of the UFC is coming."

How the news came out

The couple's relationship became public in 2026, after months of fan speculation. Ecuadorian entertainment outlets reported that Salazar is more than three months pregnant, and the two have now confirmed it themselves.

Morales is one of the UFC's undefeated welterweights. He has said he has already agreed to return in January, though not against Islam Makhachev or Carlos Prates.

Morales has also called out Makhachev, who defended the 170-pound belt for the first time against Ian Garry in the UFC 330 main event. "Islam, since you came to my division and took the belt, I have been asking for the fight," Morales said in a video. He also addressed Prates: "You want the belt; I want the belt. Let's find out who's next."

If the UFC has other plans for the title picture, Morales said, he has another name for 2027: "The final boss of this division, Shavkat Rakhmonov."
