Nallo Stops Landwehr Early in Round Two at UFC Edmonton
Mandel Nallo beat Nate Landwehr at UFC Edmonton. Fighting on the main card at Rogers Place, ahead of the Buckley vs. Malott headliner, Nallo stopped his opponent by TKO with strikes just 47 seconds into the second round.
The 37-year-old improves to 14-4 with the victory, while Landwehr, 38, drops to 18-8.
A striker's profile
Nallo is an orthodox fighter who stands six feet tall with a 75-inch reach. He lands 8.61 significant strikes per minute at 62 percent accuracy and does not lean on wrestling at all, with no takedown or submission attempts in his career averages. In Edmonton, he won the fight with strikes alone.
Landwehr, an American nicknamed "The Train," trains at MMA Masters and is also orthodox. He gave up two inches in height at five-foot-nine and three inches of reach at 72 inches. His game is built on pace: he lands 5.63 significant strikes per minute at 45 percent accuracy and mixes in wrestling and submission threats, averaging 0.76 takedowns and 0.8 submission attempts per 15 minutes.
No time to change the fight
Those grappling tools never came into play. Because the stoppage arrived so early in the second round, Landwehr had little time to turn the bout into the mixed striking and grappling exchanges he has favoured in the past. Neither his takedowns nor his submission attempts were a factor. The official result was a TKO by strikes at 0:47 of round two, recorded on the main card at Rogers Place before the Buckley vs. Malott main event. Landwehr left Edmonton with a loss on his record.
