Police Officer Ends UFC Edmonton Crowd Brawl With a Suplex

· Videos

A video shared on social media from UFC Edmonton shows a local police officer ending a fight in the stands with a German suplex.

What happens in the video

The event took place at Rogers Place on Saturday, October 17, and Canadian fighters including headliner Mike Malott and Jasmine Jasudavicius won their bouts. In one section of the arena, a brawl broke out in the crowd.

In the clip, one man keeps throwing punches at another fan even as police officers and security staff close in around him. One officer then grabs the man from behind and drives him down with a German suplex. The man appears to be knocked out cold by the impact, and he is also tased.

Fans split on the officer

Reaction on X came quickly. The clip was posted on X on October 18. Many viewers sided with the officer: one user suggested that UFC CEO Dana White open his checkbook for him, and another joked about a new career for the officer. Others said the man got exactly what he earned, with one user noting that attending an event is a privilege and acting like a fool comes with consequences.

Not everyone was comfortable with the footage, though. Some people pointed out that the officer put his knee on the man's back even after he had been knocked out and tased, and questioned whether that part went too far. One user quoted the officer telling the man to get to his stomach after he had already been knocked out. The incident took place in the stands during the UFC Edmonton card and was not connected to any of the bouts on it.
