Ryan Garcia Gives Bobby Green an Impromptu Boxing Lesson

· Videos

Bobby Green got some coaching tips after his latest loss. Footage that surfaced on Monday shows the UFC lightweight veteran on a night out at a club, where he ran into boxer Ryan Garcia and ended up getting a short lesson on how to defend himself with his hands down.

A night out turns into a film session

Green, also known as King Green, was knocked out in the first round at UFC 332 earlier this month. Esteban Ribovics dropped him three times before the referee stepped in. In the video, Green is with his friend Arnold Barboza Jr., a boxer with a 33-1 record, when Garcia asks him about the loss and what happened.

Barboza jumps in first and puts the blame on Green's low guard. He says it is just a matter of small tweaks and that Green fights with his hands completely down, so he simply needs to lift them a little.

Garcia then takes over and shows the idea in practice. Rather than telling Green to keep a high guard, he demonstrates where the hands should be if a fighter insists on keeping them low, so that the opponent still cannot land clean shots. As he explains it, a low guard is only safe when it is held in the right place, unless the other man is simply not good, in which case anything goes. Green listens as both boxers make their case.

What is next for Garcia

Garcia, 28, is the WBC welterweight champion. He retained the title on September 12 by knocking out Conor Benn and now has a long list of possible opponents. He recently said he is in talks to fight Floyd Mayweather, and claimed he would knock Mayweather out if the superfight happens in 2027, arguing that the veteran is a small man who would be in trouble if hurt early.
