UFC 333 Countdown: Two Title Fights on Saturday
The preview show for UFC 333 is out, and the full 'Countdown' episode covers the two championship fights on Saturday's card. In the main event, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski faces undefeated challenger Movsar Evloev, while the co-main event is the third fight between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili, with the bantamweight title on the line.
Volkanovski and the unbeaten challenger
Volkanovski puts his featherweight belt on the line once again. The Australian is 38, and the preview asks whether he can produce another classic performance against a challenger who has never lost inside the octagon.
Evloev has had his hand raised in all 10 of his UFC appearances. The fighters he has beaten in the promotion include Lerone Murphy, Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen and Diego Lopes, and the episode builds the week around his attempt to take the belt from the Australian.
Yan and Dvalishvili, part three
In the co-main event, Yan and Dvalishvili each own a win over the other. Dvalishvili took their first meeting over three rounds in 2023, a result that handed Yan his third straight loss at the time and left him outside the title picture.
Yan won the second fight this past December, when he ended Dvalishvili's run as bantamweight champion over five rounds. The two now meet for a third time with the belt at stake, and the preview notes that the result could also shape how both men are ranked among the best bantamweights in history. The full 'Countdown' episode covering both title fights was released ahead of the event on Saturday.
