UFC Rankings After Edmonton: Malott Enters the Welterweight Top 10

· Business and Rankings

The UFC has published its updated Meta Rankings following last weekend's card in Edmonton. The update reflects only the results from that event, with the next round of changes expected after UFC 333.

Malott breaks into the welterweight Top 10

Mike Malott headlined UFC Edmonton and stopped Joaquin Buckley by knockout. It was his fifth win in a row and his second straight knockout, and it lifted him three places to No. 8 in the 170-pound division. Buckley, who has now lost three fights in a row, fell four spots from No. 8 to No. 12. Kamaru Usman gained a position as a result of the shuffle and now sits at No. 11.

The top of the division is unchanged. Carlos Prates remains No. 1, followed by Ian Machado Garry, Michael Morales, Jack Della Maddalena and Sean Brady. Gabriel Bonfim and Belal Muhammad stay at No. 6 and No. 7, just ahead of Malott, while Uros Medic and Leon Edwards complete the Top 10.

Changes in the women's divisions

Jasmine Jasudavicius beat Erin Blanchfield, who had been the top-ranked contender at women's flyweight. The win moved Jasudavicius up three places to No. 3, behind only Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso. Blanchfield dropped two places to No. 5, and Zhang Weili slipped one spot to No. 6.

At women's bantamweight, Chelsea Chandler made the largest single move of the update. Her submission of Melissa Croden on the preliminary card sent her up six places to No. 9. Croden went in the opposite direction, falling six spots to No. 15. At strawweight, Sam Hughes entered the list at No. 15.

The men's flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight lists were not affected by the Edmonton results. The next update is expected after UFC 333 on October 24 in Abu Dhabi, where Alexander Volkanovski meets Movsar Evloev, with changes anticipated mainly at featherweight.
