Fili, Tanzilovi, Allen and Pereira Collect UFC Vegas 122 Bonuses
The UFC Vegas 122 card at the Meta Apex was decided mostly by stoppages. The event, headlined by ranked middleweights Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan, featured nine finishes in total, including eight in a row from the second preliminary bout through the second fight of the main card.
When the night was over, the promotion skipped the Fight of the Night award and instead gave four Performance of the Night bonuses worth $100,000 each.
Two head kicks open the main card
The first two main card bouts both ended with kicks to the head. Otari Tanzilovi stopped Malcolm Wellmaker that way, and right after him Andre Fili did the same to Kai Kamaka III. Each man took home a $100,000 bonus for those finishes.
Brendan Allen was the third recipient for his submission of Duncan in the main event. The fight reached the fifth round, when Allen dragged his opponent to the mat, took his back, got both hooks in and worked his arm under the chin. Duncan refused to tap at first but eventually had no choice. It was Allen's fourth consecutive victory, and he called for a fight with former middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis afterwards.
The final $100,000 award went to Alice Pereira. She opened a cut on Darya Zheleznyakova that was bad enough for her opponent to decline to continue after the first round.
Finishing bonuses for five more
The other five fighters who won by stoppage were not left out. Niko Price, Julius Walker, Francisco Prado, Brendson Ribeiro and Allen Frye Jr. each received a $25,000 finishing bonus, so every fighter who won by stoppage on the card received bonus money.
