Lobov Takes Aim at McGregor's Reasons for a Comeback

· Fighter Controversies & Social Media

McGregor is talking about another UFC fight, and a man who knows him well is not convinced. Artem Lobov, his former teammate, says he does not believe the reasons McGregor has for fighting again.

The claim about "habits"

Lobov posted on X that McGregor's last fight happened many years ago and that "now it's about supporting the habit." He added that this was his humble opinion. The report reads the remark as an accusation about substance habits.

A reply to a follower

One follower on X accused Lobov of hiding from McGregor. Lobov replied. He said he was at SBG every Tuesday and Thursday for years and never saw McGregor there.

He went further. According to Lobov, McGregor used X to send people to burn his car and to threaten his 60-year-old mother with a hammer, yet never called him directly. He also said McGregor called him out at 4am while he was asleep with his kids. Lobov ended with the word allegedly.

All of this is Lobov's account. The report does not say that any of it was confirmed.

He described himself as the one who always shows up, and said he taught McGregor how to be a real fighter.

Where McGregor's comeback stands

McGregor's latest outing was at UFC 329 earlier this year. His fight with Max Holloway lasted only seconds, because he hurt his right leg. Surgery followed right after the event.

The injury has not ended his plans. He still wants to use the final fight on his UFC contract. He is targeting next summer, and a trilogy with Holloway is a possible opponent. His last win came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

As of the report, McGregor had not answered Lobov.

How the friendship ended

Lobov and McGregor were once nearly inseparable. Both came out of SBG Ireland, and each stood in the other's corner for many marquee fights.

The friendship broke down when Lobov took McGregor and his Proper 12 Irish Whiskey brand to court a few years ago.

Our View

Lobov's posts are one side of a long personal dispute, so they say more about that dispute than about McGregor's plans. What would change the picture is McGregor's own answer or a booked fight. Until the UFC names an opponent and a date, the comeback remains an intention.
