Charlo Returns Against Jarvis on Tszyu-Lara Undercard

Jermell Charlo's first fight in more than three years is against Brock Jarvis, a heavy hitter whose best-known opponents both stopped him. The ten-round middleweight bout is set for December 12 in Australia.

Where the bout sits on the card

Charlo and Jarvis are the co-feature. Above them, Tim Tszyu faces Erislandy Lara at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast. DAZN streams the event.

The placement carries history. Tszyu was originally scheduled to challenge Charlo for the undisputed crown, but a hand injury forced Charlo out in early 2023. Now Tszyu headlines for a middleweight belt, and Charlo works beneath him.

Charlo after the layoff

Charlo is 35-2-1 with 19 knockouts and is a former undisputed 154-pound champion. His last fight was in September 2023, a lopsided decision loss to Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight.

"I'm willing to fight on a co-main event all the way in Australia because that's how hungry I am," Charlo said.

At his best, he beat Tony Harrison in round 11 and took back the WBC title. He then stopped Brian Castaño in the 10th round of their rematch and unified all four belts.

Jarvis and his record at the top

Jarvis is 23-2 with 21 knockouts. The two best-known names on his record both ended his night early. Liam Paro knocked him out inside one round in October 2022.

Keith Thurman beat him in three rounds in March 2025. Thurman was 36 and had sat out since 2022, so ring rust did not save Jarvis.

Jarvis did bounce back in August, halting the unbeaten Sam Beck in four rounds.

Our View

The matchmaking reads as a controlled return. A quick win gives Charlo a clean reset after the Canelo loss. A long fight with Jarvis winning rounds would raise questions about his sharpness after three years out.

If Tszyu beats Lara, a meeting with Charlo would have the cancelled 2023 fight behind it, but Charlo would first need a convincing performance against Jarvis.
