WWE Reportedly Offers Crew Hazard Pay for Riyadh

· Pro Wrestling (WWE, AEW) ·

WWE is reportedly offering extra money to the crew members who travel to Riyadh for Crown Jewel. The offer lands while the trip keeps drawing questions from people on screen and behind the scenes.

What is known about the card

Four matches are official for Crown Jewel. Roman Reigns meets Sami Zayn for the Men's Crown Jewel Championship, and Chelsea Green faces Liv Morgan for the Women's Crown Jewel Championship. Cody Rhodes takes on Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match. Penta and Je'Von Evans challenge Bron Breakker and Austin Theory for the WWE World Tag Team Championships.

GUNTHER vs. Finn Balor is believed to be added, and other talents could be featured as well.

Nothing yet on the wrestlers

The report makes clear that crew members were given a hazard pay option. It is unclear whether the wrestlers on the show got the same offer.

Hazard pay and why it is unusual for WWE

Hazard pay is extra money on top of regular wages, generally offered when workers face "hazardous duty or work involving physical hardship." It is believed that WWE does not traditionally offer it, including for earlier shows in Saudi Arabia.

The report adds that past events in the country did not see the level of military escalation of the last month. It does not say that this is why the money is on the table.

The report behind the offer

Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful reports that WWE is giving crew members the extra pay for the trip. The amount is said to be around $3,000, according to two WWE employees.

Reports describe unease among talent on and off screen about the trip, though no wrestler is reported to have refused. Apparently some crew members have turned it down despite the extra pay.
